Fix the Courts: Stand with Hank on Court Reform

Rep. Johnson’s statement on President Trump’s immigration ban

Hank and Rep. John Lewis look over the stay of the president's executive order at Hartsfield-Jackson Airport as they work to free detained Georgia residents.

DECATUR, GA – Congressman Hank Johnson (GA-04) today released the following statement after President Trump’s sweeping Executive Order (EO) shut down borders to refugees and others from seven mostly Muslim countries. Rep. Johnson and Rep. John Lewis went down to Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport on Jan. 28 to help facilitate the release of Georgia residents held unconstitutionally:

“I applaud this weekend’s emergency decision by a federal judge to ban the enforcement of President Trump’s unconstitutional Executive Order, which sought to ban Muslims from certain nations from entering the United States. This Muslim ban is contrary to our values, and ironically, is dangerous to U.S. national security interests. Make no mistake about it-Americans who respect the constitution must rise up and oppose this injustice, and the suffering that it wreaks upon innocent men, women and children whose only offense is that they are Muslims.”
