With 200 supporters, Congressman Johnson cites record of effective representation, legislation LITHONIA, GA -- Flanked by his wife Mereda Davis Johnson and Atlanta Mayor Kasim Reed, three sitting DeKalb County commissioners, and dozens of endorsing local leaders from across the District, Congressman Hank Johnson announced in no uncertain terms on Saturday morning his candidacy for a third term representing Georgia’s Fourth Congressional District in the United States Congress.
In attendance were: Juanita Baranco, business leader and member of the Board of Regents; Doreen Carter, Lithonia City Council; Jay Cunningham, DeKalb County School Board; John Evans, Operation LEAD; Kathie Gannon, DeKalb County Commissioner; Debra Jackson, Lithonia City Council; Ben Myers, IBEW; Richard Oden, chairman of the Rockdale County Commission; state Sen. Ron Ramsey (D-Rockdale-DeKalb); Zepora Roberts, DeKalb County School Board; David Schutten, Organization of DeKalb Educators; Cleveland Stroud, mayor pro-tem Conyers; Gil Turman, president of the South DeKalb Neighborhood Coalition; Theresa Walker, Georgia Black Chamber of Commerce and wife of former DeKalb Commissioner Lou Walker; former DeKalb County commissioner Gale Walldorff; Ruth Wilson, clerk of state court for Rockdale Judicial Circuit; among a host of other dignitaries and members of the community. |
